Oconomowoc, fish fry, 8 point bucks, and no Internet....back from Wisconsin

That is about it...the headline says it all.  Patricia, Anissa, and I, left for my wife's hometown of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, on Friday morning...traveling around Chicago, then through the Lake Geneva and Kettle Moraine area of Southeastern Wisconsin, on the way to her dad and step mom's Condo on Silver Lake.

I first visited Oconomowoc in 1974, when Patricia and I were dating, I have been there at least once a year, every year since.  I first went with Patricia for her sister Sue's wedding  At that time her Dad and his wife Bev, lived in a house between Delafield and Oconomowoc overlooking Lake Nashoda...they sold that place some 30 years later as they aged, and purchased a condo near Sliver Lake....over those 36 years the sleepy town of ten thousand and bloomed into an overflow community, with those bored or scared of life in the Milwaukee and Chicago bergs taking over...and like so often things happen, they, even though they hated what was happening to their area, turn their new surroundings into a sad replica of where they just left.  That is Oconomowoc of today.

Malls and traffic jams, Condos, and Medical Centers, now lie in what was once cornfields and woods, nestled along I-94 between Milwaukee and Madison, the twin leftist infested population centers of Wisconsin.

Usually on my once or twice visits per year, I hang around the condo, drink beer, and an occasional glass of Brandy....I walk the bike path and out to Silver Lake....and watch football when visiting in the fall.  It gets dark around 4pm in the north country in early to mid November, so I get some good sleep.  Patricia gets to visit her folks and siblings.....that in short is the weekend, usually highlighted by a famous Wisconsin Friday Night Fish Fry.....and trust me, Fish Fry Fridays in Wisconsin, are like no place else...they are something else.

I was first introduced to Fish Fry Friday when I visited Bill and Bev's back in the 1970s....and that is reason enough to return whenever you get the chance.  This Friday we headed to Okauchee Lake and the Golden Mast Restaurant.  Patricia worked as a waitress there when in high school, and we had our wedding rehearsal dinner there back on December 17, 1976, the day before we got married in Oconomowoc, so the town still hold a special place in my heart    I may have been back to the GM once since that night, but have participated in many Fish Fry's at other locations around the lake region since that time....The Golden Mast had changed, but the food was still outstanding.

Probably my favorite fish fry location over the past 35 or so years was a place called Bullocks, located just north of Wausau, Wisconsin,  where Patricia and I lived back in the late 1970s.  We would head there most Friday Nights and hang around the bar...then pig out on the sea food, chicken, and deep fried fish.  If I recall correctly, it was $4.95 for all you could handle, food wise....we usually spent more at the bar than for the food...by a long shot.  It was a great place, and we enjoyed it those Friday Nights, to say the least.

So Friday we got the fish fry treatment.....tomorrow I'll show some grainy photos of the 8 point buck on the bike path and write about the rest of the weekend......

Veterans Day 2010~The Distrespect Continues

The extension of Indian Summer just keeps getting pushed farther out...now it looks like it will last into the weekend here in Western Ohio...71 is the forecast high for both today and tomorrow, and Saturday says 68...I believe today and tomorrow are going to be near record highs.  Must be that damn Global Warming Al Gore has been warning us about{Insert Sarcasm}....?  There is no freaking Global Warming, and if there was...GOOD!

Today is Veterans Day 2010____

Probably the most disrespected holiday, next to Columbus Day, that we see these days...you can blame Political Correctness, the media, the schools and universities,  or blame the Government, starting with the Jimmy Carter Presidency.  Carter let the Draft Dodgers get a free pass, then we had the Draft Dodger in Chief Bill Clinton, whose Marxist wife "Loathed" the Military.  And now another troop hating "Progressive" is in office, and the press, the Vietnam War protesting/troop hating scum is ingrained in our national government and revisionist history.   Make no mistake, The Obama Administration, and even the leaders of the Defense Department, like Chief Robert Gates, hate Veterans, and the Military...make no mistake indeed...Hell, Islamics infest even our own Pentagon.  And we know which side of the coin their allegiance is on.

My Military Service____

When I joined the Air Force in the Summer of 1968, I joined to stay the Hell out of combat and Vietnam...no hero was I, 4 years in a warm bed, seemed a much better option than a year or 13 months sleeping in the mud and rain, getting shot at.  My brother Mike's best friend, David "Kim" Deeter had been Killed In Action in April, he had been drafted, and died 5 months into his tour with the 1st Air Calvary.  While I was in Basic Training at Amarillo, Texas, my cousin, Jackie Ray Poling, was killed in July of 1968...he was with the 101st Airborne, The Screaming Eagles.  I had a special relationship with Jack...we grew up near each other in Venice, Florida....both of our families had moved to South Florida in the early 1950s.  One day, while Jack, my brother Mike, and I were swimming in a deep Gulf of Mexico channel,  near Englewood, I panicked and started to go under...Jack was the only person who came to my aid...risking his own life, Jack did a choke hold around my neck and with me still in distress, got me to shore, safe and sound...I never forgot that, for without his help, I doubt if I would be here today.

Both of our families moved back to Ohio in the early 1960s after a decade in Florida...we saw each other on occasion, and mom and Jack's mom, Marty, remained travel companions and friends until Marty's death in 1998.  They traveled the world together.  Marty was my dad's first cousin...her son, saved my life, and lost his in Vietnam.  Jack, Kim, and nearly 60,000 others gave all...only to be dismissed and disrespected by the majority of those living safe and sound at home.

So I joined the Air Force....became an Air Force Cop(Security Police,  Air Police before that)...today those men and women are called Security Forces...my salute to those brave souls...no draft today, so these folks are all volunteers, making their service even more special.

After Basic and Cop School, I headed off to Dover AFB, Delaware...I hated stateside duty, so I asked to be sent to Southeast Asia, something I joined the Air Force to avoid.  I was awarded for volunteering by getting orders to Nha Trang Air Base on the South China Sea, in Vietnam...I left for duty on June 30, 1969, I loved the duty, no chicken shit, great location, and great daytime Law Enforcement Duty...6 months later, 2 days after Christmas, I was shipped out to Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon....there I worked "Charlie" Flight, overnights in the towers, bunkers, and driving the Jeeps on occasion with the Security Division.  War or no war, I enjoyed my year in Vietnam...I probably would have, and in retrospect, should have, stayed my remaining 2 years there.  But, not wanting to worry the family, especially mom,  I returned home for 20 months of CS Duty(that would be CS as in Chicken Shit) with SAC(Strategic Air Command) at Griffiss AFB, in Rome, New York.  I hated it, and I hated the Air Force for it....yes I hated the military life, I never was, and never have been good at taking orders.  However,  I did not hate the men I served with...sure some of us disliked each other, we came from different background, religions, races, creeds, politics, and view of the world...dislike however does not equal hate.  Despite our differences, most of us respected each other, especially those of us in the Security Police...we still do today, and despite those differences that still exist, we Sky Cop Veterans of the Vietnam War continue to work together for the good of all of our brothers of that war:

http://www.vspa.com/

That, in short is my view of the military and it's current and previous Veterans....we were, and they are, a cross section of America...some good, some not so, and  some frankly evil, but the vast majority love this country, and I and many others are appalled at the disrespect we get from both in and out of government, especially by the so-called 5th Estate...The Media, the Current President, and those like Clinton and Carter, that despised us during their terms...not so much by their words, but by their actions.

So I say, "Thank You" to all Veterans, both those serving in crapholes like Iraq and Afghanistan, for suspect "allies"  and those keeping the peace at home...Keep your powder dry, the enemies are all around us.

Photos-At the Top, 2 pictures of me, while at Nha Trang in 1969....Jack Poling's Obit, and a Air/Security Police Shield, we wore both stateside and while at war...guess it was a target right over our hearts, for the enemy to zero in on.  Below...The Defender Fortis Statue of the Security Police at the Air Force Museum on Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton..our VSPA Mini Reunion at Dayton in March 2010, and The 28th Annual Kokomo/Howard County Indiana Vietnam Veterans Reunion in September 2010, which drew tens of thousands again this year.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!

More Indian Summer....Beck on Soros Part #1

Wish I could take credit for the photo to the left, but...gotta give credit to some unknown photographer that released this image to the general public.  Nice shot of Indian Summer type weather.  The very weather we are enjoying in West Central Ohio these days...and it looks like it will last through Friday...too bad for the working stiffs, because come the weekend, 40s and some rain will be back in the forecast.  Meanwhile the rest of us will enjoy the near 70 degree temps with all day sunshine.

As for the photo, the one on the bottom of yesterday's blog, was mine...taken along the St. Marys River, near Rockford, Ohio...about 10 miles from our place...not sure where the one posted today was taken, but the date said 2005.  One thing about this year, with the dry conditions, and strong winds of late summer, we had almost no color to speak of...it was a brown end to the season.

I mowed and mulched mom's yard yesterday, probably the final use of the Toro for the season...on Monday I fired up the Snow Machine, and let it run for about 20 minutes...I may have to replace the plus or drain the gas...it ran, but did seem to be missing a bit, so will work on that in the next few days.

Glenn Beck on George Soros part 1

After finishing the yard work at mom's yesterday, I came home, fired up a 1876 Torpedo Cigar, and poured a bottle of Guinness Extra Stout into a frosted glass...both went down well...in fact a couple of the dark beers went down well.  After that I went inside to watch the first installment of Glenn Beck's expos on Obama Puppet Master, George Soros, the evil bastard that has destroyed several currencies around the world, and now with the help of his pathetic Kenyan tool, is trying to destroy not on the dollar, but the Republic as well.

Here is the first 15 minutes of Part 1:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCThLQeeMWA

The other segments can be found on You Tube by typing in Beck on Soros followed by the date, November 9, 2010, and the part...2, 3, etc.

I found it to be interesting to say the least...I had forgot much of what this Jewish born Nazi Collaborator had done to destroy the countries and the currencies that he has put his filthy corrupt hands on.  I also found that if you don't know much about Soros, that this expose' might be a bit confusing....I have to believe that is why the left would dismiss the series.  For one that despise Beck, and 2, they just don't have the courage or brains to realize what this bastard and the Obama henchman and supporters are capable of.

It's time to realize that Obama is nothing more than a tool, and a small part of the evil that the left is bringing to American....Soros and Company are out to destroy the Republic, the worshipping left will be the first to get run over....the rest of us plan to fight back.  Part 2 is tonight on Fox News Channel at 5pm EST.

Basketball scrimmages start this weekend, but I plan on taking an extra week off before I begin.  I want to get my legs in shape for the coming hardwood season, and did not take any scrimmages until November 20th...although if needed, I might take one as early as the 18th..but no sooner than that, I am enjoying the rest from the scene.

In the meantime, I have another Rules Meeting tonight in Van Wert, and plan on being outside as much as possible the next few days, to enjoy this last days of nice weather before the cold of late fall reappears.

Glenn Beck takes aim at Puppet Master(for Obama) George Soros

Glorious Days of Indian Summer have reached western Ohio....the all too short period that gives us a respite from the rainy, cold,  days of November before Winter comes a calling in full over the coming Holiday Season.  68 today and about the same through Friday, with nothing but sunny days and clear night skies, before returning to "normal" over the coming weekend.

Opening of Dartball last night, a pretty pathetic team performance to say the least...with some veterans missing, and the kids and 3 brand new players on the team, we misfired, losing 2-1, 9-1, 3-2, to last years league champions, Hopewell Lutheran.  I did all right, going 4 for 9 with a triple and 3 of the teams 4 runs batted in...team wise it may be a long season.  With basketball season set to begin, I will miss quite a few opening games....time for the team to grow, and some players to step up.

The Losers on the Left take aim at Glenn Beck_____

If nothing else, one Glenn Beck has a huge set of balls.  The left no longer targets Rush Limbaugh as enemy #1, Glenn Beck, the radio and Fox News Talker, has taken over that crown.  The loony left despises Beck and would like nothing more than to see him dead...why you might ask?  Because he has them pegged to a T.  From a half breed, half baked, Marxist in the White House, to a plastic surgery donned grandma from San Francisco, to a lazy fat liar of the Global Warming Hoax, that used to be Vice President, to the "Puppet Master", George Soros, who pulls all the strings for the far left media and Barry and Company.

Tonight on Beck's 5pm(Eastern Time) Fox News show....Beck goes after enemy #1 of American Patriots, George Soros:

http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=7641

The Soros Sock Puppets are not taking this lying down....they want Glenn Beck stopped and I'm guessing they will pull out all the stops to see that this show on the evil that is Georgre Soros, is discredited.

I have come to the point of the last few years and months, that I can no longer stand to even argue with lefties...they are either (1) Totally Ignorant of what's going on in the world  (2) Just Plain Stupid  (3) Slaves to the Nanny State  (4) So Politically Correct that they are guilt ridden to a fault, or (5) Evil Sons a Bitches that actually believe in the Snake Oil that the Kenyan Puppet, the left wing media, and their Master Soros is selling.  In short, they are not worth my time and/or energy to bother with...life is to short to deal with these fools.

So join me and all right thinking Americans in watching Beck peel the skin off the Obummer Onion at 5pm Eastern(2 PM in the West) on Fox News TV tonight.

Update:

Remember I told you yesterday Food Prices will skyrocket, and supplies will dwindle...even the far left loons in Fariy Old England know it's coming:

On More Shot of Indian Summer/The Coming Food Shortage?

Low 60s and plenty of sun today, and approaching 70 by midweek, with nothing but sunshine...cool, clear, evenings, and mild days...perfect weather for early November.  Things will settle down by early next week, and cool off, with a shot of rain as well.

The one thing, well one of many things, I dislike about the days and weeks leading up to winter, is the end of Daylight Savings Time....this past weekend saw us return to Standard Time, and yesterday, here in West Central Ohio, it was pitch black by 6:15 in the afternoon, by the time the days start to get longer, daylight wise, around Christmas, it will be dark by 5:30pm.  I don't mind the cool, usually wet months of November and early December, but I do mind 6pm feeling like Midnight.

I wrote yesterday about what I believe to be the upcoming economic collapse in this country, and most of the western world, I'm not a pessimist but am a realist.  No way Obama, Ben Bernanke, and Company can continue to print money in the disguise of stimulus money, and pretend that is will not have a devastating effect on the economy, not only here, but throughout much of the world.  The collapse will come, the question is not if, but when, and sooner or later?

Glenn Beck says Food Shortages Coming_____

Glenn Beck drives the left, both in and out of the media, crazy.  They hate his for his rating, they hate him for his ideas, the hate him for his success and money made,  but most of all they hate him, because he is right, most of the time.  Although I don't agree with him on all things(some I am much farther to the right that he would ever dream of being), I listen on occasion to his radio show, and watch his Fox News TV show, when I'm around...like I said, he drives the left "bonkers", and that is what I really enjoy about his books and broadcasting.

For the past couple of years, since King Obama and Queen Michelle Antoinette were crowed the Royal Family of America by the suckers that voted for him in 2008, and the lap dog press, Beck has been talking about the coming Depression(no, not that bump in the road we are currently in)...in addition the devalued dollar, loss of  jobs, and skyrocketing energy prices.   Beck has been predicting higher food prices, and less of it on the shelves.  He has restated those predictions of late:

http://vodpod.com/watch/4836604-04nov10-glenn-beck-talking-about-food-shortages-food-inflation-and-dollar-inflation

Patricia and I went to restock our shelves last night at Wally World...and came back shaking our heads...she does the lions share of all the shopping(I buy beer, and on occasion a bunch of Bananas) and told me that she had not seen the shelves at Wal Mart that empty in a long time...and of course, even there, the prices are up, way up, over the past few weeks....it's only going to get worse, before it gets better, if it ever does.

My suggestion, for what it's worth, is buy the bulk foods you can afford, and store them out of harms way...it's a win-win situation.  If Beck and others are wrong...you still have a good supply of food and goods, and at a better price than you will see next month, or the month after.  However, if he is right....what you will have will be more valuable than gold.....think about it!

The regular Dartball season begins tonight, as we head to Hopewell Lutheran, the home of the defending league champions from last season....we still have a mix of youth and old guys...hopefully we will improve on last seasons team stats....I'll have a hard time bettering my personal log...last year it was 2nd in the League Batting Race with a .441 average, and double digits in RBIs.  I would like to increase my runs batted in over last year, but we have to get more base runners on ahead of me for that to happen.

On the Big Ten TV Network this afternoon, they have replays of Saturday's Ohio State Hockey vs Alabama Huntsville, and then tonight, Ohio State Men's Basketball against Walsh, which was played Sunday.  The reason I mention this is that oldest son Sam was the Director of the Hockey Broadcast and the Producer of the Basketball game....here he is majoring in Actuarial Science but working for the Big Ten Network and OSUathletics.com to help pay his way through.  He seems to be getting a kick out of it.

So, I'll watch a bit of his work, then get ready to head out to Dartball.....back later

Photos-Food Shortages, Glenn Beck's take on those, Dartball are the subjects of today's blog post.

The Coming Economic Collapse

Well here it tis, a sunny, cold, Sunday morning, a day I usually don't touch this blog....but in the aftermath of the good election news this past week I figured, after reading the latest news on the economic mess we are in, I must post a response to what you are hearing and reading from the "Lame Stream Media"....the very same media that would downplay the Tea Party Factor in the election, and the very same media that continues to carry water for the Kenyan in the White House known as Barack Obama.

Is the Economy about to Collapse?

The Media, and the Obummer's Economic team continue to sell you the goods that the Recession ended in June 2009.   Do you believe it?  Do you believe that the "real" unemployment rate is just 9.6%...do you believe that we are slowly coming out of this latest "Recession"?  Or do you believe what is coming at us is going to make "The Great Depression" looks like a scene from the old sorry TV show called "Good Times"?

Forget what the media is trying to sell you....there are some places you can find the truth, here is one that tends to brush the shine off the current mess, no spin here:

Economic Collapse Website:

http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/caught-in-a-lie-bernanke-promised-congress-the-federal-reserve-would-not-monetize-the-debt-but-now-that-is-exactly-what-is-happening

Laugh it off or believe it in full...the choice is yours, but something ugly is coming.  Blame Bush, blame Barry, blame yourselves....plenty of it to go around, but something powerful and evil is coming this way, like a freight train in the dark of night.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend if you can...back later:

Photos-In My Opinion, the scenes above from the 1930s are going to make those the coming economic collapse look like "The Good Ol' Days", and this White House and the compliant media are doing their best to keep you in the dark.

The Election is Over...on to other things to do this coming Winter

The election is history, although a few races still are to be decided.  It appears that the Republicans will take 63 or so House seats, 6 Senate gains of previous Democrats seats, and their Governorships will stand at 30 compared to the previous 24...quite a few state houses changed hands as well, and the major gains favored the GOP in the big electoral states, like Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, they were all turned over from Democrat to Republican.  The lone big state gain was from the state of Mexifornia, previously known as California...although Arnold Schwarzenegger was really never a Republican anyway, just a Politically Correct hack, that was nothing more than a lukewarm Democrat.  So it was indeed a good night for real Americans and patriots...we will see if they can destroy the Obama mystique and agenda, or if they will "go along to get along"...if they do, they will pay a deep price in 2012.

In other news____

The state football playoffs begin in Ohio tomorrow, Garry has a couple of tournament contests this year, as does one of the other guys from his crew...but for the most part the season is over for our association...not so for local teams.  Delphos St John, Marion Local, Coldwater, Minster, Anna, from the MAC,  and several other teams from the WBL and other leagues are in tournament action as well.   Celina's Bulldogs lost the last week of the season, and were left out.  But a 6-4 record is far better than I, or many other folks thought before the season began...1 or 2 wins, maybe none were expected...but the young coaching staff and their players did well.

I am finishing up my basketball schedule for the upcoming season...and scrimmages begin when I return after a short trip to Wisconsin.  The regular season for Girls BB begins Thanksgiving weekend, while the Boys kick into season the following week.

Winter on the Horizon____

With cold weather coming soon enough, my outdoor activities will slow, although I will spend as much time out of doors as possible, I will begin my winter activities...those include, less beer drinking(a pity for sure but a necessity), reading the 775 page book of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry:

http://26thohioinfantry.com/

{also see last weeks blog post about the book and the 26th}

Of course Basketball will play a huge part of my winter activities...as of now I am scheduled to work some 80 games, including week night Junior High double headers and 3 games, JH doubles and High School single games, on Saturdays.  Toss in youngest son Hal and his fiancee Lisa's wedding in early February, in West Virginia, and the following reception 2 weeks later in Dayton, it promises to be a busy and hopefully, fast moving winter...the least favorite season of the year to be sure.

I also plan on working on my photography skills, especially when it comes to producing Sepia photographs...something I have come to enjoy over the years...so the winter will be busy, hopefully I can stay germ free for the majority of it, I've been pretty luck the past few years.  Sure there was the 2007 back problems, a couple of nasty colds last winter, and the torn calf muscle in February 2009...but all in all, not much to complain about for a active 61 year old.  Hopefully my luck and health will hold out for another coming cold season in the Buckeye State.

Photos-I really enjoy working with photos, especially with today's digital technology...can you imagine what the early photography pioneers could have produced with today's modern devices.  Of course, given the fact that the digital and computer aids for photographs are dirt cheap, and you can correct your mistakes in a heartbeat, makes it great for hacks like me...the top photos are from my recent "fishing" trip to the Oscoda, Michigan, area...me with a cigar and bottle of Drambuie on the side, and a old tree, long dead on the shore of Lake Huron next to the Au Sable River.

Beware of the RINO,.........."Sparky Anderson RIP"

First off...Sad news from the world of Baseball.  My all-time favorite MLB Manager, Sparky Anderson, who lead both the Big Red Machine in the 1970s and the Tigers in the 80s through the mid 90s, has passed away at the rather young age of 76, RIP Sparky:

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101104/SPT04/311040114/Reds-great-Sparky-Anderson-dies

On to Politics...beware the RINO!

The GOP kicked ass Tuesday, make no mistake about it....63 or more House Seat gains, 6 gained Senate Seats, and 30 or so Governorships now in Republican hands....and that doesn't count all the state Assemblies and legislative branches now in GOP power.  It was a good night, but danger lurks...not only from Obama and his Marxists minions, but from the likes of Lindsey Graham, and like minded RINOs(Republicans in Name Only) still clinging to power within the party, and all more than willing to work with the Kenyan and Thief who occupies the White House.

There is danger within and outside the party.  The lame stream media, both outside the Internet and on left leaning websites like Politico, HuffBlow, and The Daily Kos,  are already trying to spin the massive losses by Liberals and Democrats into a defeat of the Conservative Branch of the GOP:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704506404575592741788907712.html?mod=WSJ_hp_LEFTTopStories

Don't believe the Bullshit....The US House is now solidly controlled by the GOP, or will be come January...the Senate however still has a large number of McCain and Graham type RINOs more than willing to vote with Obama and Company to control you and your pocketbook.  In 2012 in addition to the Obummer up for reelection, you have at least 31 Senators, including 21 Democrats...if the right minded Republicans(a big IF), do the job they were sent to do, more massive defeats to the far left of both parties is in the cards....but we Conservatives have to be watching our backs, and those of the folks we elected to turn this country around.  The dyed-in-the-wool Washington insiders, like Karl Rove and Company, don't like the Tea Party members and other true Conservatives, they would love to go back to 2004 and the ways that got Obama and Pelosi in power in the first place...Don't let them have that power!

Cut spending, and stop the steamrolling of more government regulation and red tape...control the border, and get the Hell out of our lives...that's what we want from Washington.  More power to the States and more freedom for legal Americans, deport or jail the rest of the illegal bastards.

That is the Bottom Line...this battle for the soul of America, has just began, don't let your guard down now!

Don't let the lying left wing media set the agenda...and don't let Lindsey Graham and his ilk set it either:

The Mid Term Elections~The Morning After

Yesterday on Facebook(click on top right border logo), I predicted that the GOP would win 65 House seats, 7 Senate Seats, and gain 10 Governorships...Those predictions look to be "spot on" at this hour, early Wednesday morning.  There were a few disappointments...Harry Reid winning in Nevada and the Queen RINO in Alaska, Lisa Murkowski and her write-in ballots currently are on top.  For the most part however, conservatives and Tea Party folks destroyed what is left of the Obama Agenda for the next two years. However, the GOP best not go back to "Business as usual"....otherwise, they will be out on their asses in two years.

Ohio and the Rust Belt____

Here in the Midwest, voters basically told the Kenyan and Thief, to "Shove It", in Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania(OK, so PA is the Mideast), Indiana, Wisconsin, and the Buckeye State.  In my district of Western Ohio, John Boehner, our Congressman, will in all probability become the next Speaker of the House, replacing Nancy "Botox" Pelosi.  John Kasich defeated NAMBLA Ted Strickland the incumbent Governor, and the GOP took every statewide race, overturning the results of just 4 years ago.  In Congress, Ohio Republicans picked up 5 House Seats to take a 14-4 lead over the Democrats.

"Mexifornia"_____

The one thing we can always count on is the total stupidity and corruption of most of the voters in the state formerly known as California....The illegals and the brain dead liberals have successfully put Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown back in office, after 2 decades, and Babs "Call Me Madam Chairman" Brown was reelected to the Senate....I'd like to give California, especially the land from San Diego north along the shore to San Francisco back to Mexico...free of charge, as long as the Mexicans accept the debt that the dump has foisted on the rest of the USA.

Other than Reid staying, and a few other disappointments, it was a good night for Republicans and Conservatives(Tea Party and others)...the Obama Gravy Train has been stopped on it's tracks, for now.  But the next 2 years will be interesting.  Redistricting will be in the forefront, and with the new Governorship majority belonging to the GOP...things look good...so one has to ask themselves.."How can the Republicans Screw This Up"?  You know they will give it their best shot!

For now however, enjoy the wins and watch the talking heads at MSNBC and the other far left outlets head's explode, trying to spin this one to their advantage.  For the latest election results and updates, go here:

Get Out and Vote?--- Well Only Some of You Need to

Today is Mid-Term Election Day 2010...now the Politically Correct thing to say is..."No Matter How You Intend To Vote, Get Out and Vote"...I say, "Bullshit"!  Many of you knuckleheads that call yourselves, Liberal, Progressive, Socialists, or Union Supporting Democrats, need to stay as far away from the election polling places as possible....you're either stupid, evil,  or uninformed, and should not bother casting a ballot.  So do the Republic a favor, and stay the home....

Now, I say the above only partly with tongue-in-cheek...because there are truly many that should not cast a ballot...and I'm not only talking illegals, I'm talking Obama supporting fools that have gotten us into this mess....as well as some GOP country club insiders that are no better than the Dems...today, we have a chance to begin a Revolution, this one at the ballot box, the next one, if needed, might not be so easy or non violent.

I did my duty within the last hour....my Congressman, John Boehner, the House Minority Leader, has a real shot at becoming Speaker of the House, if the GOP prevails.  Frankly, JB is a bit too quick to get along with Obama and the Washington crowd.   If he becomes Speaker, we will see if he gets the message.  For Governor I voted for John Kasich over NAMBLA Ted Strickland, the current Ohio Gov...frankly, I don't like either one of them, but with redistricting coming up due to the new Census, I feel we need a somewhat Conservative leading the way in Ohio.

So, with the World Series finished, I will kick back tonight and watch the results come in...hopefully by this time tomorrow, our Kenyan-and-Thief in the White House, our American White House, will have a massive hangover, Pelosi will see her last days as Speaker, and the utterly corrupt Harry Reid, the Senate leader, will be out on his ass....

True American Patroits, get out and vote!  As for you far left loons, stay the Hell home.....

Things to do when the fish don't bite....Oscoda, Michigan

Got back a bit early from the annual fishing trip to the Au Sable River/Lake Huron area of upper lower Michigan....too little fish caught, too many cigars, too much beer/Drambuie, but all-in-all a decent time in the north country.

Thursday____

We arrived about 3 O'clock in the afternoon, and pulled in to our destination for the second straight year, the Blue Horizon Court...located at the beach on Lake Huron, just a few yards south of the mouth of the Au Sable River Bridge, and the Oscoda City Limits.  Bob, the owner, was in his office and we agreed on the same off  season rate as last year...$50 a night for the 3 nights, with an option to stay the 4th if we wanted...taking the same cabin, ajoining the office, as last year.

We unpacked and then headed to the local grocery to shore up our supplies....mainly beer, since we had already taken canned foods from both Nick's place as well as our basement....we would not need much extra food...a pound of breakfast sausage,  an equal amount of lean ground beef, along with butter, mustard, milk and salt.   A couple cases of beer would get us through the weekend, with plenty to spare.  No fishing on the first day...I cracked the bottle of Drambuie and fired up the first of a couple of torpedo cigars, and settled in to watch the World Series game #2...not much of a game, with San Francisco pounding the Rangers 9-0 and taking a 2-nothing lead in games.

Friday____

Up early, we talked with Bob and one of his workers about the fish and were they biting or not....Harrisville, some 13 miles north seemed to be where the Salmon were pooling.  First we headed to our usual first spot, the Foote Dam on the Au Sable, some 5 miles west of Oscoda.  A few guys were fishing in the rapids, but were having no luck...we shot a few photos and then headed towards Harrisville, taking the back roads around the perimeter of the old Wurtsmith Air Force Base...knowing the cold winters up in the neck of the woods, I was glad that I had not been stationed there after Vietnam, Rome, in upstate New York,  and Griffiss AFB was snowy and cold enough, I've talked to guys in our organization that were stationed here and in the UP at KI Sawyer, the weather was brutal, and the SAC Security Duty for AF Cops, was likewise.

We made it to Harrisville, but saw little action...and headed back to the cabin for lunch.  After fixing that we went the quarter mile where the river meets Lake Huron, and tried our luck, fishing mostly for Walleye, we caught a few, but nobody was having any luck with Salmon.  Friday evening, we hit the cigars, a shot or two of Drambuie, and watched the horror movie festivals on Turner Movie Classics, and AMC, some good old stuff, and some hokier movies as well.  We played some poker, with me winning the lions share of the $10 we invested between us...ended up drinking many beers to go with the Drambuie and cigars...

Saturday_____
Photos along the Au Sable from Foote Dam to Lake Huron...photo #3 is the mouth of the river at Lake Huron,
with a 4th looking from US Route 23 at the Sunday Sunrise over the Lake.

Waking up and feeling frankly like crap, we set around the cabin after breakfast and decided weather to try fishing at all...we ended up going to a antique and wood furniture place across the street...back to the cabin for lunch and I settled in for a day of football and baseball on the tube....in short, the fishing turned to bust, and no beer, cigars, for Saturday...I needed a break, and Nick may have been worse than me...sucks getting old!  We decided to say farewell to the Blue Horizon by Sunday morning.

Sunday____

Fixed our final meal at the cabin Sunday morning, watched an old Halloween Bela Lugosi movie, said our farewells to Bob and his dog, and headed back down US 23 towards Standish....stopping in Tawas for coffee at Burger King first.

100 miles later we were on the floor of the Soaring Eagle Casino near Mount Pleasant:

Most of the "Indian" Casinos I visited on my RV runs over the 5 years after my retirement from the health department, we not up to snuff when compared to my trips to Vegas...the "Eagle" was a pleasant change.  Plenty of slots, a couple of good bars, and gaming tables that, while not equaling places like Goad Coast, were in abundance, the place was sharp, and a good visit.

I had no intention of playing any table games, and sat at the bar playing video KENO for about 2 hours..Nick meanwhile tried his luck at a Blackjack table, losing 30 or 40 bucks...before hitting the video of the same game at the bar, his winnings jumped up $150.  I told him to take his winnings and let's go...he had won enough to pay for his share of the cabin and supplies...but being the dumb ass he is, basically told me he knew what he was doing.  Turns out he didn't, and by the time I collected my $30 winnings from the KENO machine, Nick had lost his winnings, and ended up losing about what I had won....sorry about his luck, but I know that machines, and Blackjack nor Poker should be played on them, any winnings are just temporary, and his were indeed.

With 200 miles to go, we headed out and arrived back in Celina before 6:30pm....a day early, but with money left and sadly, no fish to show for it...next year, we may head south, the last 2 years, after a great 2008,  have not been that great fishing wise...but we still managed to have a decent time.

Epilogue____

It's probably best I got home early...seems Patricia came down with a nasty sinus infection that started yesterday morning(of course she would never complain to me)...that raged on through the night, she was at the doctor's office this morning, and will be off from school for a few days at least.

As for me, will take the new lawn mower to Coldwater for some work on the electric starter, still under warrenty, and tonight will head for church and kick the Dartball season off with a practice session and team organizational meeting.  Tomorrow is Election Day and I will do my part to throw the Obama supporting trash out with the rest of the garbage...hopefully "real change" will come, but even with a predicted GOP Landslide, I doubt much will.

Back Later>>>>

Photos from the Trip:  The one thing I enjoy doing when the fish aren't biting, along with the cigars and a good drink, is taking photos...of just about everything, as long as they are "point and shoot" type, and I don't have to think about what I'm shooting, and I have the 10 second mode....Cigar, Drambuie, specialty beers, and fishing...this year, for the 2nd straight year, the fishing was not quite as good....maybe time for a change of locations, wouldn't want things to get stale.  New Header Photo was taken on Friday with me at the Foote Dam, the rest throughout the weekend.

OK moving forward ..Be Prepared
