Another Fine Mess!

Since I've lived in Ohio some 40 of my 59(coming up in March) years, I cannot remember a February with this much snow....I've seen cold February days, icy days, and snowy days, in the second month of the year, but this one just for 3 to 5 inch snow falls on a daily basis, has to be the tops.

Another winter storm warning was put into the forecast last night....once again, not really a "storm" in my eyes, but we did end up with a couple of inches of the heavy wet stuff overnight and a couple more of the lighter variety(less moisture) this morning. Schools ended up cancelled, and I'm sure the roads will ice up tonight, as wet as this stuff is. I made it to Greenville, less snow more cold rain the further south you go...meanwhile north and north west of here in Ohio and northeast Indiana, they have about 8 inches.

Sam delivered the RV to New Jersey yesterday, but could not catch a flight out to Dayton...so he stayed with a friend out that way and planned on flying out of Philly later this afternoon, making a connection in Cleveland and then arriving in Dayton tonight about 10....I planned on picking him up then, since his car is here in Celina.....got a feeling that may not happen, Cleveland may get a foot of the white stuff, and my guess is, either the flight to the John Hopkins Airport gets delayed or canceled....if he does get into Cleveland, he'll probably get stuck there.....guess we will play that by ear.

Patricia being off from school due to the "storm" shoveled the sidewalks...the driveway will have to wait. Given the weight of the heavy wet snow, the snow blower is not a good mix in the driveway, tossing up stones and sloppy wet half frozen liquid.

More later...................

{photos- looking out my front porch, then again along our west side of the house....you get a feel for the liquidity of the snow event}.

Hell, it rained here Monday evening, and now it's snowin' again---though very lightly---today Tuesday. And windy---20 mph, gusts to 35---gives it a real "seasonal" feel!

But---come the weekend, and therefore, the first day of MARCH(yea!), things appear to be on the up-side, with more "normal" conditions!

Seems like those March-winds are about three-weeks ahead of schedule. It's all Al Gores' fault, what with his global WARMING, and all...!

Yesterday the high was 92. Now it's 60, and it's supposed to get into the 30s tonight. Maybe if i cross my fingers the sky will open up and I'll get a snow day. Nope, not likely.

I can't believe the winter you guys are experiencing, it seems endless. Last night we had an EARTHQUAKE measuring 5.5 on the richter scale. Scary stuff..

The winter down this way has been lighter than "normal," whatever the He77 that is. Very little snow and NO sub-zero days...which I'll take with a thankyouverymuch! The wind, OTOH, can quit any ol' time, now...

From Michael Asher yesterday:
"Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen HERE."

He provided a number of links.

Saw that yesterday Larry, working in Environmental Health for 20 years, I have always said..."the claim of Global Warming is pure BS"

Nothing I have seen in my 5 1/2 years since retirment from the field has changed that....The claim of Global Warming is pure socialist political bullcrap....nothing more, nothing less....Southern Wisconsin has seen the most snow in recorded history this winter, which still has a month of winter(or more) to go.
