The Cincinnati Reds Hoist The NL Central Crown!

For the first time since 1995 the Reds win the Division...for the first time since 2000, they actually have a winning record.....being a long time Reds fan(since I moved to back to Ohio in 1962) this season has been a joy for Cincinnati fans everywhere:

Jay Bruce hits a monster 'Walk Off' Home Run to put them in the playoffs, 3-2 over the Houston Astros:

Now, they need to take care of business to secure a home field advantage for the first round of the playoffs...

UPDATE Wednesday Morning September 29, 2010___

Here is a better Video of the Jay Bruce  "Walk Off" Home Run to win the NL Central Division...compliments of MLB.COM

The win gave the Reds their first division championship since 1995...this young team is hardly the "Big Red Machine"...and maybe their playoff run will be short, however, the way they have won in the clutch, you never know.

I covered the Reds on Radio and TV for about 15 years, through the bad years and the later good ones(1990-95)....they have been my favorite pro sports team through thick and thin....and I even got to rub elbows with a few of the folks, players, broadcasters, managers(Rose and Pinella), and a certain owner named Marge.

Photos-Reds Logo, Jay Bruce, and bottom, Reds owner, the late Marge Schott, and me, back in 1991......

I used to be a huge Reds fan. That was when J Bench, Pete Rose, Tony Perez, Ken Griffey played. I would stay up and listen to the radio when they played on the west coast. I used to know all their batting averages, home runs, stolen bases etc. For some reason VW paper doesn't print league standings, but glad you shared info. Remember Joe Morganand Sparky anderson?Do you know if Sparky is still alive?

Sparky is alive and kicking.....

I covered the Reds for Cable Channel 7 and WCSM back in the 80s and 90s....got most of the "stars" autographs and photos taken with them...including one of me and Marge Schott...which I will ad to today's(last nights) blog.

wow! you are a celebrity. Sparky Anderson must be at least 100. My beloved grandpa and grandma were big Reds fans. Didn't that Marge Schott get into trouble for something? I know she was the owner. I used to like Joe Nuxall announcer for Cincy radio. My son Tom, is a huge Phillies fan! I don't think I have ever got Channel 7.Do they still have it?

Channel 7 in now 64 Fox out of Lima...we broadcast locally in Van Wert for about 20 years....I was the News and Sports anchor. Part time of course, was working Environmental Health Director at Van Wert County Health Department during the same span.

The Good Ol' Boys club didn't like Marge because she told it like it was...said what she thought...kind of like me..guess that's why we got along. :)

I think Sparky is 76...born in 1934. Mom is from Philly...her brother, my Uncle Jack, who lives in Antwerp is a big Phils fan, plus he's a Democrat, and Notre Dame fan, so you can see, we have plenty to disagree about....lol!

Ha ha. I am usually up front with a person and tell them, "what you see is what you get." In fact at work we cannot discuss politics as there is a very divided office. However, I read that Obummer (?) where did I get that, is going to somehow access our fb pages and internets. They say it was for terrorists, but I think they'll snoop on everyone. It is like invasion of privacy or do we still have that?
