Back on the Road.......

Yesterday's post had me declining a RV Delivery Run....they called back and wanted Sam and I to take a pair to outside Altoona, Pennsylvania. Not wanting to mess with towing the Jeep and driving that bouncer back 585 miles, I said "no", but would be open to doubling up with the older son to Southern California. Shawn, the dispatcher, says, "How about Albuquerque?" Well, Hell, being on the way, and considering it was a small 23 foot BT Cruiser, I took it....will deliver mine to New Mexico on Monday morning, jump in Sam's unit, a Sun Voyager Diesel, and if all goes according to Hoyle, we drop that off Tuesday in Upland, we grab a train into LA, and take a red eye out to Chicago arriving early Wednesday. This should give my back a workout, and see if the Epidural continues to hold out.

Looks like we will also have to dodge "another" predicted snow event(forget storm, they have all been flops), that is racing up through the Texas panhandle and Oklahoma as I type....we may have a good chance to skirt that. Regardless, Sam will have his laptop, and I will take along one of the digital cameras, and try to check in and record. At this point we will leave early tomorrow before the snow gets out of hand.

Attended another umpire rules meeting in Van Wert last night, so I have 3(Sam 2) of the required 4 meetings...Monday I was scheduled to participate in the Dartball All-Star game...which I forgot about when taking the run....so called the alternate, our lead off hitter, Edison, Ed has been playing for over 20 years and is one of the better league throwers. Being the lead off, you don't get the RBIs and have less of a chance to boost your all star average, so he will take my place...and he actually deserves it, so that works out.

photos-A BT Cruiser by Gulf Stream and a Diesel Sun Voyager by same. Will make one more post before I head out....later.

I really envy you. Once you are out on the road, you're seeing new places and free as can be. I'm in my office, putting up with the regular office bullshit every day.

Good luck on the road, Pat. If your back starts bugging you, you can always go crash in the back... between ABQ and CA, anyway! ;-)

One of things I love about retirement..free as a bird to do what I want...when I want, dependin of course on whether my War Department allows me to... ;-)

Well, that sounds like a great trip. Hope it all turns out cool, and not too exhausting. If you ever deliver one of those things to Texas we'll have to hook up.
