RVing, The Aftermath/Photos, etc., part 1

I have to say, I am beat! Slept in this morning until 8:45, finally getting 8 hours+ sleep. The trip was interesting, to say the least...after only 2 runs in the past year, and those short trips to Pennsylvania last Labor Day weekend....I was happy for the perfect driving conditions.

Sam and I headed out early last Friday, one step ahead of the snow approaching from the south and west....the wind was blowing out of the northeast ahead of the storm, and we made decent time across Illinois and into Missouri before the storm hit back home. Stayed the first night at a Flying J truck stop in Sullivan, MO, on I-44 west of St. Louis....the temps were cold as dawn arrived, but the skies were clear.

We knew we had plenty of time to get to my stop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Monday, so we took our time across Missouri and into Oklahoma on Saturday....stopping to shower at a Flying J in Tulsa, before driving past Oklahoma City, and stopping outside Sayre, OK, near the Texas Panhandle on Saturday afternoon...only 400 some miles to go to ABQ so we took our time, ate a great Steak Buffet at Sayre, and stayed the night and well into Sunday morning. Fuel prices continued to go up almost daily....I was paying $3.15 a gallon for unleaded for the BT Gas RV...while Sam payed $3.69 for his Sun Voyager Diesel....he was getting about 10 1/2 mpg, the BT closer to 9 MPG(thanks Buck)......

Sunday was looking good, and the entire trip would see sunshine, nary a drop of rain or a slow flurry the entire trip, by the time we entered New Mexico and stopped at Tucumcari Sunday afternoon, it was sunny and 57.

More later tonight.................Next stop, Route 66 Casino.

photos-The RVs and me, on I-57 near Urbana, Illinois, Will Rogers mini stop at McDonald's on I-44 in eastern Oklahoma, and the Sunday Sunrise at the Sayre, OK, Flying J near the Texas Panhandle on March 9, 2008.

Sounds like an outstanding trip.

That is one spiffy-looking Class B. And I'll bet spiffy = expensive, too... As is that Class A Sam was driving. Too bad they're so slow... (he was getting about 10 1/2 mph, the BT closer to 9 MPH) ;-)

Will go back and correct that....;)

Yep, going to $4 very soon.

Great photos...I bet that can be a lot of fun, if your health allows you to enjoy it.

We need to take one of those units to Alaska. How long do you think it would take to make the trip to Fairbanks?

Don D....the trips to Alaska take about 5-8 days depending on weather. I've had chances to do one, but so far have turned them down. Some folks do them all the time.....

My oldest Son takes off Sunday for Alberta....but that is only about 1750 miles north and west of Nappanee....still winter, I'm not doing that run....but he enjoys them.

Before February Ends...

The plan is, is to get at least a post a month here for 2024...so here we are in later February so let's do it... It has been, for the m...
