Over the past 20 years or so, we have made it an annual trek to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to see Patricia's dad and his wife. They lived along one of the lakes between Oconomowoc and Delefield for many years, and we would stay at the ranch for a few days....once a year over Thanksgiving, and once usually during the summer months. Bill and Bev sold the house a few years ago, and moved nearer to town, buying a nice 55+ Condo. Patricia and Anissa usually go up for a week in June, and the rest of us would head up over Thanksgiving. This year it will just the 3 of us. Sam has basketball and classes on Monday, he will take care of the animals and house. Hal is teaching this week at Fairborn High School....and will opt out of this trip.
If you have ever driven through the Chicago area....you know it is one of the worst highway systems in America, bar none....Over any Holiday period it is much worse. So this year we have decided to avoid the Thanksgiving traffic. We will head out in the morning, and return to Celina on Monday...just in time for me to take my OHSAA Basketball Test.
Speaking of basketball...tonight I get my first taste of real basketball, driving to Columbus Grove for a JV High School scrimmage. The regular season starts up in a couple of weeks, so I need all the roundball action I can handle before that happens...tonight it begins.
While in Wisconsin, I have access to the Internet, but usually stay as far away from it as possible....a cleansing of the mind, so to speak. So no Internet...just some studying for the upcoming test, a glass or 2 of Brandy, good food, and some football watching....I shall return, God willing, early next week.
back later>>>>>>>>>>

Have a good trip and enjoy the change of pace.
Pat, thought I'd better get with it and comment on the happenings on your blog since the Elections. I am sure you know what I am referring to ( Charley ) I seem to remember a few years back when that name referred to the enemy. I am sure Charley is an all around good guy he just seems confused to the meaning of the words free speech the very reason he gallantly enlisted and put himself into harms way by going to Viet Nam. I personally did not read anything raciest in your blog just a man stating his beliefs and concern about putting the right man in the highest office in the land. Charley if you read this I hope you see where you were wrong in you comments and understand that one is not raciest just because he feels someone else is better for the job, you really showed a lack of control maybe that is your way of expressing your deep passion for the man you wanted and got others can express their passions more elegantly as Pat has done throughout the electoral process in his blog without all that profanity. Pat good job, keep up the good work...
Harry
Thanks Harry...I have exchanged a few e-mails with Charley...he seems stuck in his "Bush Stole the 2000 Election" dream world...and we will let it go at that. But as always I appreciate the support...just like when I was a "newbie" at Nha Trang.
Hermit...Need a break, not sure driving around Chicago is a good one...but look forward to the 3 or 4 days relaxing.

Roger that! I used to keep a few classical CDs in the car for mind-numbing traffic (Beethoven's "Pastorale" is particularly good). Soothes the nerves and makes gawd-awful traffic more bearable. But there's no need for that of late... I live in an 80-mph world now. ;-)
Good luck on your trip thru Chi-Town, Pat... and enjoy your time off.
Enjoy your break Pat, we all need one once in a while. I'm sure you'll return refreshed and replenished, it's sounds a perfect unwinding time to be had.
(Oddly enough, I've been doing the same of sorts this week, only from home.)
Travel safe, and unwind.
Hope you packed enough TRUE enjoyment, as in CIGARS!
That, and indulge yourself in a nice, thick, juicy STEAK while you're at it...!
You were correct, 1937, the calm before the storm....
