A salute to my fellow Veterans on this their day{even you Charles McCauley}.
I was out to the Dog Vet this morning, taking Reagan the Airedale out for her monthly allergy injection....while driving the Jeep back to the house, a middle age lady pulled up on the passenger side, looked at Reagan and shouted through rolled down window...."Happy Veterans Day, thanks for your service"....I waved back and hollered "You're Welcome" through the plastic rag top window.
I get that on occasion, with the Vietnam Veteran plates on the Wrangler...on a rare occasion I get the "thumbs up" for our service.
Veterans Day, like Columbus Day, has taken a back seat in recent years, even Washington and Lincoln's Birthdays have morphed into a single day....no more important than a 1960s street protest organizer, getting a day of his own. What next? July 4th? Memorial Day? Not to sound bitter, at least Veterans Day is still celebrated on the 11th of November...it has not yet, been moved to the nearest Friday or Monday....but I doubt if most know the difference between Memorial and Veteran Days.
Anyway....enjoy it fellow Vets. I am setting home, with Anissa{no work shop today}, Sam{no Ohio State classes today}, and the dog and cat....sorry to say, Patricia, with a nasty cold, still drove over to St. Henry...no day off for the school kids. I do plan on downing a Sam Adams or 2 later on tonight, just to celebrate the forefathers of the nation....enjoy one and all, and Salute to my fellow Veterans.back later>>>>>>>>

Pat,
If Veteran's Day falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is considered the holiday. Had to go back and verify that with our payroll calendar (we have to keep track of bank holidays so that the ACH gets deposited on payday).
Thanks for your service, Pat!
Hey Pat! I just wanted to thank you for your service. From my whole family.
thanks for your service and welcome home.
Brings back some good memories each year.

Times have changed, and for the better, too. There weren't any "thank yous" when we came home the first time... except from our families. I'm glad the current generation that's serving is getting the respect they deserve.
Hey Pat, sorry I could not drop by yesterday. I am sick as a dog and blogging is definitely a secondary priority to sleeping and getting well. But anyway...
Hope you had a good Veteran's Day, you deserve it.
It's not enough for all the blood sweat and tears, hardship and loss, but thanks for your service.
Thank you
